Our City, Our Community

Each class was assigned two assignments: draw their favorite landmark of San Francisco and write about what makes a ~kind~ community.
I then tally-marked the landmarks that they drew and the most common were Sutro Tower, Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, and... the sea lions at Pier 39 lol
As for what makes a kind community? The themes that came from the kiddos were: playing together, making sure everyone feels included, and sharing with each other
The design was a real collaboration with them-- whether they realized it or not when they helped paint, I'm not sure!
But it was fun seeing them point out to their friends and family "I helped paint those books!" "I added the green over there!"
